Marsa Alam - Three Corners Hotel

One Week Holiday in Marsa Alam - Egypt

Trip report about our stay at the Three Corners Hotel near Marsa Alam with a diving base run by Extradivers.

An ideal destination to escape the winter at home and spend a relaxing week soaking up the sun.

The flight time from Basel-Mulhouse to Marsa Alam airport is around four and a half hours.

After a 10-minute transfer we are already at our hotel, the Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort.

At the in-house dive centre we rent a wetsuit to keep warm during our snorkeling trips — it also helps protect against sunburn. If you are coming to the Marsa Alam region for diving, you can get in touch with the dive centre. The centre is German-speaking and highly recommended.

Getting to Marsa Alam

Friday, 13 March

At seven o'clock our Tui/Corsair flight departs from Basel-Mulhouse to Marsa Alam. After around four and a half hours of flying and a one-hour time difference, we reach our destination in Egypt. Finally that feeling of sunshine on your skin again. Egypt welcomes us with a pleasant 26°C.

At the Three Corners Hotel

After a 10-minute bus transfer we are already at our hotel, the Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort (www.threecorners.com). After a friendly welcome we head up to our room and then straight to the beach.

The reef begins right at the beach, so water shoes are recommended. A long pier leads out to the outer reef, with several sets of steps leading down into the water.

Feeling a little tired, we decide to simply lie down on a sun lounger and sleep... snorkeling can wait until tomorrow.
We make a quick visit to the Extradivers to check our upcoming dives. We are greeted by Tanja, who gives us an overview of the available options and dive sites.

After an unsuccessful billiard tournament in the lobby and a traditional Egyptian dance performance, we end the day.

Beach Time and Hotel Tour at Three Corners

Saturday, 14 March

We head straight to the Extra Divers dive base after breakfast and pick up our equipment. We discuss possible dives and an upgrade option to Open Water Diver for Dany. The team is super friendly and we are already looking forward to the dives.

Sun time — unfortunately the wind today makes for uncomfortable snorkeling, it's too cold for us...

Instead, we book a quad safari into the desert for tomorrow at 2:30 pm and treat ourselves to a one-hour full-body massage from the Cleopatra team. Wellness at its finest. Fully refreshed, we then relax by the pool.
