El Yunque National Park
The El Yunque National Park is located 45 minutes by car from the coast, inland from the shore.
At various viewpoints along the road into the rainforest, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas all the way down to the coastline.
A moment of pure serenity awaits at the La Coca Waterfall, and the Yokahu Observation Tower offers yet another spectacular 360-degree view – definitely worth a stop! It's right on the road just after the El Yunque Visitor Center.
Hiking in El Yunque
The hike to the La Mina Waterfall takes about 1.5 hours and is absolutely worth it. Taking a dip here in the middle of the jungle is wonderfully refreshing after the effort – a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
There are 2 trails to the waterfall – one starts just after the El Yunque Visitor Center, where you can also pick up maps.
Britton Tower in El Yunque
At the end of Route 191, you can hike the Mt. Britton Trail up to the Britton Tower. From the top, you're rewarded with a fantastic view over the entire rainforest – and back down to the coast on the other side.
There are several more exciting trails up here on Mount Britton in El Yunque. Maps are available at the Visitor Center.
