Isla Margarita — Venezuela's Caribbean Island

Travel Guide Isla Margarita — Venezuela

Our Highlights for Isla Margarita

Honestly, it would be a shame to only visit Isla de Margarita, proudly called the "Pearl of the Caribbean" by locals. You absolutely must take a small plane to the mainland and fly over Angel Falls — an experience you'll never forget.

Isla Margarita offers incredible landscape variety in a compact area.

The island has luxury hotels and private villas.
Great restaurants, shopping and a wide range of activities.

Don't miss Laguna de la Restinga and the desert-like Macanao Peninsula (west). In the south, El Yaque is one of the world's top windsurfing spots.

Weather, Climate & Best Time to Visit Isla Margarita

Isla Margarita enjoys a mild subtropical climate. Average annual temperature is 27°C with water at 28°C. Nights cool only slightly. The rainy season is May to October — while the mainland sees heavy showers, Isla Margarita is usually spared. Fun fact: the island lies outside the hurricane belt, making it a great year-round destination.
