Los Roques is not heavily developed for tourism. You can stay in family-run posadas with individually styled interiors, or in tents, on sailboats, or catamarans — whatever suits your taste.
Getting to Los Roques & Getting Around
There is only a small airstrip where propeller planes fly in from Caracas — meaning the only way to reach Los Roques is via Venezuela. The flight takes about 30 minutes. Note: you are only allowed 10 kg of luggage per person! More information at korallenarchipel.de
The island itself is very laid-back — there are only a few taxis, but everyone is incredibly helpful.
Where Is Los Roques Located?
The 42 tiny islands of the Los Roques coral archipelago lie just off the coast of Venezuela in the Caribbean. They are part of the Parque Nacional Archipiélago de Los Roques national park. In addition to the islands, Los Roques includes more than 200 sandbanks. The main island is Gran Roque, which is home to nearly all the buildings and many fishermen.
History of Los Roques
