On the way to the mangrove forests near Port-Louis, you can visit the old fortress just before Pointe-à-Pitre: Fort Fleur d'Épée. Apart from a beautiful view of the bay below, the fort itself is not particularly noteworthy.

Port-Louis — Mangrove Swamps

At the beach near Port Louis, there is a beautiful circular trail through the mangrove forests, the sentier de découverte de la mangrove, taking about one hour. Drive to the end of Anse de Souffleur, park your car near the cemetery and follow the signs. With advance booking or by arriving from 8:00 AM, you can also book boat tours, snorkeling and diving excursions into the mangrove forests.

Port-Louis Town Center

Port-Louis is rarely visited by tourists. The houses are built in Creole style and you can still see traces from the era of sugarcane cultivation. The boats are partly very colorful.

Vieux Bourg — Anse Babin

Near Morne-à-l'Eau, you can reach the laid-back coastal village of Vieux Bourg and continue to Anse Babin beach. Here you can enjoy wonderful swimming, relaxing and a magnificent view of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin mangrove forests.
