Soller Bay on Mallorca

Cayo Guano to Cienfuegos

From Cayo Guano Back to Cienfuegos

October 26

We're still in bed when our captain Jesus starts the engines and sets off. Again we have endless waves and we go on deck pretty quickly, as the swell is no good for our empty stomachs, especially since we've also sealed the hatches and the heat in our cabin rises quickly.
The crossing is rough once again and we try to eat the last cookies every now and then. Jesus even drives through a military restricted area to get us to the marina in Cienfuegos faster. The sea only calms down when we reach the Bay of Cienfuegos.

Arriving at the marina, Jesus tells us that the beautifully restored boat nearby belongs to Johnny Depp. Unfortunately, he's not on board yet. We have a sundowner, chat with the customs officer and go fishing in the marina. After a thorough shower at the Club Cienfuegos Marina (here the facilities are in excellent condition), we eat at a local restaurant called Pelicano. It's near the Hotel Jagua around the corner (Ave 0 No.3506-B Punta Gorda Cienfuegos). Unfortunately, it takes quite a while to get served, but the quality is really good and the prices are adjusted for tourists. We have a nightcap and enjoy the last night on board in our worn-out bed.

Sailing Trip Costs from Cienfuegos

Sailing trip Cuba 674 euros per person from Cienfuegos - ship's fund 155-200 per person. For the boat and provisions, we average 230-300 euros per person per week - must be kept ready in CUC! At the start of the trip, a crew member collects a certain amount from fellow sailors for the ship's fund (please DEFINITELY have this amount ready in CUC). Since shopping opportunities in Cuba are limited, a base staff member or the skipper assists with shopping (They appreciate a small tip of about CUC 15-20).

Tips: Tips are not mandatory. If you're satisfied with a service, the other party will certainly appreciate 10% of the bill.
