Speedboat Tour & Dolphin Watching from Flic en Flac

April 25 - Half-Day Excursion

Today it's time for the speedboat tour & dolphin watching with snorkeling at the reef, a visit to Crystal Rock and a barbecue afterwards. Who hasn't dreamed of swimming with dolphins? We did it and got very close to the wild dolphins. The dolphins are in their natural habitat and can dive away from the boats at any time.

The dolphin tour started at 8 am. We were picked up at our hotel and brought to the meeting point at the public beach of Flic en Flac. We booked the excursion with Michael (who speaks perfect German, having lived in Germany for 20 years), whom you can find at the beach of Flic en Flac.

The dolphins usually hang out in the morning at Point Moyenne, Tamarin Bay or Black River Bay. After that, they swim out to the open sea. We found them quickly. A family of bottlenose dolphins came close to the boat and even turned towards us. So we were lucky enough to encounter these fantastic animals live in their natural habitat and later while snorkeling had them nearby.

Swimming & Barbecue on Ile aux Benitiers

Next up was a snorkeling stop at the reef, followed by a photo stop at Crystal Rock, a bizarre rock formation in the middle of the sea surrounded by crystal-clear water.

Another highlight was the barbecue with plenty of rum and beer on the beach of Ile aux Benitiers. There was marinated chicken, fish, carrot-cabbage salad, garlic bread and for dessert: grilled banana with coconut flakes and rum.

Vendors with floating stalls also offer handcrafted goods.
After the wonderful time at the beach, another swimming stop at Crystal Rock was on the program before we headed back to Flic en Flac around 3 pm... slightly tipsy, which was just about bearable at the beach.
