From Flic en Flac to Cap Malheureux

April 21 - Day Trip 2

The Northwest of Mauritius

We get up early. Today we're heading to the north coast of Mauritius. First, we fight our way through the heavy traffic of Port Louis, before stopping at Triolet to visit the Maheshwarnath Temple. It is one of the largest and most famous temples on Mauritius, dating back to 1819. Please remember: take off your shoes before entering the temple.

Beaches in the North of Mauritius

We continue along the coastal road where many beautiful beaches line up one after another. Worth mentioning are the beaches of Trou aux Biches, Mont Chosy and Grand Baie. Grand Baie is the unofficial capital of tourism. Here you'll find numerous shops, bars and plenty of hotels. Don't forget your swimwear at the hotel.

Cap Malheureux

Another major attraction is Cap Malheureux. Here you'll find the beautiful church Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malheureux with its striking red roof. On the way there, you'll encounter numerous photo spots and beaches as far as the eye can see.

La Cuvette Beach

On the way back, we take a swim break at the lovely La Cuvette beach, where you'll also find kiosks, parking and washroom facilities.

Through the evening rush hour traffic at Port Louis, we head back to Flic en Flac and our hotel.
