Nassau - Capital of the Bahamas

Nassau, with around 200,000 inhabitants, is a very lively city. Numerous shops and upscale boutiques invite you to go shopping. There are some beautiful colonial-style buildings.

Paradise Island

Paradise Island can be reached quickly by water taxi directly from Nassau's harbor. It's the ideal destination for cruise ship tourists who don't want to book a major excursion. Paradise Island is known for its beautiful Paradise Beach and the Atlantis Hotel.

Paradise Island is also connected to Nassau by a bridge.

Paradise Beach - Nassau

The Paradise Beach on Paradise Island is located right next to the Atlantis Hotel and can therefore be reached quickly by water taxi for cruise ship passengers. At the Paradise Shopping Village directly beside the Atlantis Resort, you can stock up on everything you need for a perfect beach day. "Paradise Beach" is simply stunning — great for swimming and open to everyone.

The Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island - Nassau

From Nassau, you can reach Paradise Island by water taxi ($3 per trip). It's just a short walk to the Atlantis Hotel.

The enormous aquarium is truly impressive and open to all visitors. You can see eagle rays, stingrays, sharks, and many other large fish. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even book a snorkeling trip or introductory dive inside. The hotel's famous casino is also an absolute must-see. With over 1,000 slot machines and 80 gaming tables, it is the largest casino in the Caribbean.

To access the Atlantis Hotel's beach area, you can purchase a Beach Pass, which does not include entry to the Dolphin Lagoon. Tickets for the lagoon are available at the Dolphin Cay Reservations Center.

Diving & Snorkeling

The crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas are absolutely perfect for divers and snorkelers. With over 700 islands and around 2,000 coral reefs, there are magnificent spots to explore.

Junkanoo

Nassau (Bahamas) in December:

Every year, the people of the Bahamas celebrate their traditional carnival on December 26th with fantastic music, colorful costumes, and parades. The costumes are handmade and awarded prizes.

The parades begin at one o'clock in the morning with Goombay drummers, rattles, bells, and whistles.
