Dive Key Largo
Sunday, March 18: The alarm rings at 7:30 AM. After a quick coffee, we head to the dive center of Scuba Fun and board our boat.
In quite rough seas, we head out to the open ocean. Shortly after, we jump into the water and descend freely to 16 meters.
We come across a World War II wreck that initially sank and was later bombed by the Navy to prevent it from being a shipping hazard.
We spot plenty of fish such as groupers and moray eels.
After 54 minutes, we surface slightly chilled, but the beauty of this dive more than makes up for it.
2nd Dive off Key Largo
We continue by boat to our second dive spot, where beautiful corals and plenty of groupers await us. After about 58 minutes at around 15 meters depth, in the still rather cool water, our wonderful diving excursion comes to an end and we look forward to a warm blanket for the ride back to Key Largo.
Islamorada - Florida Keys
We have lunch at Shaggy's before heading south towards Islamorada.
At mile marker 77.5, we reach Robbie's Pier. Here you can watch and feed tarpons — baited deep-sea fish up to 2.5 meters long — for just $1 at a dock.

On the way back, we enjoy a stunning sunset before organizing our dinner.
Over a bottle of wine, Anya arranges a kayak trip with Garl into the Everglades for the day after next.
