A Day on Antigua
September 29th: At 8:00 am, the cruise ship Adventure of the Seas docks in St. John's - Antigua.
At 5:00 pm, the Adventure departs again.
Beach Day at Runaway Beach
At the port of St. John's, taxis line up in rows, making it easy and affordable to reach the nearby, stunning Runaway Bay. It's best to arrange a pickup time for the return trip right away.
There are bars and roaming vendors, but you're mostly left in peace and can enjoy excellent swimming at the gently sloping beach.
Every now and then, someone comes by offering fresh coconut - absolutely delicious.
Downtown St. John's - Antigua
At the port, as in most cruise ports, there is a fairly large shopping center, and if the weather isn't quite so nice, there is plenty to explore near the harbor.
At 5:30 pm, we leave Antigua and enjoy a soak in the whirlpool while the island grows ever smaller on the horizon.
