Rainforest Canopy / Zip Line Tour St. Lucia
We booked this tour on our cruise ship and it turned out to be absolutely fantastic.
From the capital Castries we drove about 45 minutes to the Rainforest Canopy Adventure Company. Along the way we received lots of interesting information and stories about Castries and St. Lucia.
Beyond Castries the road climbs steeply uphill with a fantastic view over the city and harbor, then continues south. Up here above the city stand beautiful villas and the House of Government.
Deep in the Jungle
The road winds along narrow, extremely twisting routes until we finally reach our zip-line park in the rainforest. Awaiting us are seven steel cables of varying lengths, which we ride from platform to platform using climbing equipment and a pulley system. The longest cable is just under 400 meters and promises plenty of thrills.
We'll let the photos and a short video speak for themselves.
Here's a link to the tour operator: Palm Services.
At an exchange rate of 1.58 (2007), the price of US$61 was practically a bargain.
A Short Island Tour on St. Lucia
The drive back to the harbor in Castries is beautiful, winding again through the jungle, past small villages and along the coast.
On St. Lucia, the main crops are nutmeg, pineapple and banana plantations. The Australian eucalyptus tree has taken hold on St. Lucia after being brought here as a gift, and has firmly established itself across large parts of the rainforest...
