Shortly after 9:00 AM we visit the Botanical Garden of Deshaies. We already know the park but liked it so much last time that we wanted to come again. It's beautifully designed and the koi carp and the rainbow lorikeets had us completely captivated.

We spend the afternoon partly in the rain at 30 degrees on the seemingly endless sandy beach Grand Anse. The unmarked entrance with 800 meters of potholed track guarantees us the first few hours of complete solitude on many hundred meters of finest sand. Some caution is advised - there are often strong undercurrents. At the end of the beach you can hike up to an old fortress in about an hour.
