Day Trip to Les Saintes Island - Guadeloupe

Wednesday, October 10

Les Saintes by Scooter

After our daily baguette is delivered to the bungalow at seven, we have breakfast and head straight to Trois-Rivieres for the ferry to Les Saintes. Just after 9:00 AM the boat departs and arrives in only 15 minutes at the harbor of Bourg. For a daily rate of EUR 25.00 you can rent decent scooters here - you don't need more on this small island. With some steep climbs and plenty of sun on Les Saintes, we're glad we didn't rent bicycles.
We traveled with the ferry CTM Deher www.ctmdeher.com.
Runs 2x daily:
--> 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM from Trois-Rivieres and
--> 6:45 AM and 3:45 PM return.

There's also competitor Val'Ferry from Trois-Rivieres and Pointe-a-Pitre. Schedules online at www.valferry.fr

We ride to Fort Napoleon (admission EUR 5.00) and explore the walls and museum.

With our scooter we visit pretty much every beach on the island, but unfortunately almost all are covered with seaweed that has been washing up around Guadeloupe for 2 years. In peak season the beaches are cleaned.

At 4:00 PM we depart for Trois-Rivieres just as it starts to rain heavily on Les Saintes. We reach Guadeloupe just as the tropical rain has cleared.
