Soller Bay on Mallorca

North Basse-Terre

Sainte Rose

October 13

Sainte-Rose is a picturesque commune on the island of Guadeloupe. With its breathtaking beauty and rich history, it attracts visitors from around the world. The town is known for its impressive landscape of lush green hills dotted with colorful flowers and exotic vegetation. The combination of volcanic activity and tropical climate has created a unique environment that captivates visitors.

Unfortunately today is a total washout - it only rains once... :-(
We visit St. Rose on the northern tip of Basse-Terre; not particularly pretty, rather functional like most towns on the island. A visit to the Rum Museum is the highlight of today. The museum is nice enough but not a must-see. Interesting is the insect exhibition; mostly beetles and butterflies. We did discover some species here that we hadn't seen before.

Departure from Guadeloupe

October 14

Our last day on Guadeloupe. We have a very early breakfast, feed our adopted cats and enjoy the final hours on the beach in front of our hotel. Then a quick shower and off towards the airport - with a short detour to Les Abymes. We wanted to have one last Sorbet de Coco from the barrel...unfortunately without success. We couldn't find a single "barrel" in all of Les Abymes. So we buy a vanilla frappe at the nearby shopping center.

Return flight: 5:20 PM from Pointe-a-Pitre with Air France, only 6 hrs 55 min to Paris Orly
