Mahahual and Sandy Beach Club at the Costa Maya - Mexico

We are docked with the Liberty of the Seas from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the port of Mahahual on the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico.

Sandy Beach Club

At the cruise pier we decide to make it a dive day and book 2 dives for $160 for 2 people in nearby Mahahual.

First we take the bus to the Sandy Beach Club, which is about 10 minutes away and can easily be reached by taxi for around 10 US$. Ideal if you just want to hang out and snorkel. There are also plenty of water sports on offer, plus a restaurant with a bar.

After another 10 minutes the dive guide picks us up and takes us to a small dive center on the beach of Mahahual (Majahual).

The Dutch expat Selna, who conveniently also speaks good German, accompanies us on the first dive. With just 5 divers we head out to Lighthouse Garden and see beautiful corals, sea turtles,
lobsters and lots of Caribbean fish.

We enjoy the second dive with just our guide Katana at the spot "Dos Ochos".

At the cruise port of Mahahual itself there is also the option to go to the beach for a swim, or relax at the pool bar. Numerous boutiques invite you to go shopping and plenty of activities such as quad tours, buggy safaris, Mayan ruins and more are on offer.
