Arrival in Tobago - Crown Point & Store Bay
Sunday, October 12th
At 7:00 am our journey to Frankfurt begins. With about an hour's delay, our Condor aircraft takes off towards the Caribbean.
The time is made up and so our flight time is reduced to 9 and a half hours.
At 6:30 pm local time we reach Crown Point on Tobago.
So we set our watches back 6 hours and still have the whole evening for a leisurely stroll through Crown Point.
After landing, we take a taxi to the Hotel Sandy Point, only a 5-minute walk away... you treat yourself, or you could have done some research beforehand :-) Not to be confused with Sandy Point Village - the holiday apartment complex right next door.
A huge room with a kitchen awaits us.
Accommodation in Crown Point can be found here.
Hotel Sandy Point
The hotel grounds are beautifully designed and have direct access to the sea. In front of the neighbouring holiday apartment complex you can swim and visit the bar. We also occasionally used the pool by the sea and the whirlpool - after asking first.
Breakfast at Hotel Sandy Point
Monday, October 13th
Our body clocks wake us up around 6:00 am. We give in and enjoy the rising sun.
Eventually someone turns up who should have been there about an hour earlier to prepare breakfast. After waiting about two and a half hours, we finally leave our breakfast table right by the sea after 3 hours, well fed at last.
Clocks seem to tick differently here, but 3 hours did seem a bit long even for us.
Store Bay - Glass Bottom Boat
We first head towards Store Bay and meet a "friend" along the way. We let ourselves be talked into a glass bottom boat tour. For $15 per person, we take the boat over Coral Garden for snorkelling at the famous Buccoo Reef and swimming at the Nylon Pool. The tour is fantastic and we'll be doing it again...
On the way back we pass the gorgeous Pigeon Point once more.
We swim and sunbathe for quite a while at Store Bay before heading back to the hotel to wash off the sand.
Delicious Dinner at Syps
At Syps, a small family-run restaurant just around the corner in Crown Point, we are treated to a superb dinner by the friendly owner. The food - a Red Snapper and a beef steak - tastes absolutely fantastic.
