Soller Bay on Mallorca

Warderick Wells to Twin Cays

From Warderick Wells to the Twin Cays

March 23

As so often, we have breakfast at 8:00 AM and set sail shortly after.

Snorkeling in Caves on a Mystery Island

We stop at a small island and snorkel through caves filled with gorgeous corals and colorful fish. Sunlight streams mystically through the cave ceiling. Outside the caves, we spot what is probably the largest brain coral we've ever seen. At high tide, a word of caution when entering the caves — if you surface too quickly, you might bump your head.

Twin Cays

The journey continues with our destination: Twin Cays — Exumas. The Twin Cays are two picturesque islands with stunning sandy beaches. Since we plan to barbecue tonight, we try our luck hunting for lobster once more — unfortunately without success again :-( but the cooler is still full. Dani packs the coolers for our picnic: Bacardi rum (a 2-liter bottle), Coke, beer, and steaks. Off to our little paradise island! We gather wood for our beach barbecue and kick off the party with a proper swig from the bottle. Between frisbee in the water and various dance and sports moves, there are of course huge steaks and many stories to share around the campfire. On the spur of the moment, my wife Dany and I decide to play Robinson Crusoe and Friday for one night — sleeping on the smaller island with a dream beach, just a towel beneath us... thanks to the high humidity and cold wind, it turns into a restless night and a chilly awakening. Despite all the shivering — an unforgettable experience!
