Soller Bay on Mallorca

Grande-Terre Island

Back to Pointe-a-Pitre on Guadeloupe

October 1

When we come out of our room at 7:30, our table is already set again :-) Our house fairy Patricia has been busy for us once more. We enjoy the morning at the pool one last time and then sadly have to pack our bags. Patricia takes us to the ferry to Guadeloupe, which leaves Marie-Galante at noon heading for Pointe-a-Pitre.

From the harbor in Pointe-a-Pitre we pay EUR 20.00 for a taxi to the Sixt car rental station at the airport, where we pick up our mini Peugeot for exploring Guadeloupe. We get a brand-new car.

Via Le Gosier to Sainte-Anne

We drive with a quick stop in Le Gosier, one of the most popular resort towns on Guadeloupe, to Sainte-Anne on Grande-Terre. At least at this time of year, Le Gosier doesn't really appeal to us and we don't linger long. A short break at the viewing terrace overlooking an offshore island.

In Sainte-Anne we reach our apartment Alizes Bungalows in the town center. We found the best price on Booking.com for EUR 53.00 per night. The owner greets us warmly and to our delight also in English. For dinner we go to the town beach and eat at Americanos - probably the largest restaurant in town and one of the few open at this time of year. The food was okay but unfortunately a bit bland.
