Habitation Roussel-Trianon
After an ice-cold cola at the Bar Oruata by the harbor, we continue to the Habitation Roussel-Trianon, the ruins of a sugar factory on the west coast north of Grand-Bourg on Marie-Galante.
Plage des Trois Ilets, Plage de St. Louis
Our next stops are at the beach Plage des trois Ilets, Plage de Saint Louis and in Saint Louis itself. A quick visit to the typical Caribbean cemetery, then coffee at "Chez Henri". A quirky pub on the jetty with live music. The town itself has some beautiful wooden houses and in peak season there's surely more going on.

Plage de Vieux-Fort with Mangroves
Next we check out the Plage de Vieux-Fort and the Riviere de Vieux Fort with its mangroves. No beach photo here - it's long and just as beautiful as the others.
INFO:
In September and October you can rent canoes here from Monday to Saturday
9:30 AM - 4:00 PM and paddle through the mangrove forests.

Pointe Menard ou Pointe du Vieux-Fort
We arrive at the northern part of the island and pass the Pointe Menard ou Pointe du Vieux-Fort. There's also a lovely, somewhat secluded accommodation here - the Maison Menard.
Gueule Grand Gouffre & Caye Plate
We visit the rock arch Gueule Grand Gouffre and the viewpoint Caye Plate along the rugged cliffs. We're exhausted for today and doze off all the way to Capesterre de Marie-Galante. Here we discover an older lady with a wooden barrel. She hand-stirs delicious coconut sorbet - we can't resist that! ;-)
After a refreshing shower at the hotel, we drive back to Grand-Bourg for dinner. At the harbor there's grilled chicken and an after-work beer at the nearby Bar Galante des Iles.
