Dive Cozumel

Cozumel - Mexico FOLLOWING IN JACQUES COUSTEAU'S FOOTSTEPS

Thursday, March 15: At 10:00 a.m. we dock at Cozumel - Mexico. We're in port until 7:00 p.m. and in between, from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m., we go diving (booked through the cruise line).

Dive Cozumel

At noon we hop in a taxi for a roughly 30-minute ride to the dive center, where we're kitted out with all our gear right away.

After a 20-minute boat ride, we jump into the water. Visibility is absolutely crystal clear all the way down to the bottom at 24 meters. We drift along a fantastic reef, passing through coral tunnels again and again.

The second dive takes us down to 16 meters and rewards us with a nurse shark, various rays including an angel shark, plenty of large fish, and a sea turtle. A nurse shark glides right beneath us. In short, what an incredible day of diving.

Time flew by, and after a thrilling taxi ride we make it back to our ship just in the nick of time.

We spend the morning strolling through San Miguel de Cozumel, wandering along the shopping streets. Unfortunately, quite a crowd is pushing through the relatively small town. Three cruise ships are docked here today, and the throngs of people match. Not exactly ideal for a leisurely walk through town.

Winding Down the Day

A quick shower and we're already leaving Cozumel's port during dinner. Tonight it's all-you-can-eat lobster... and sadly, it's already the second-to-last evening of our cruise.
