Sunday School in Buccoo
Today the famous Sunday School is on the agenda.
At 7:00 PM Wayne, our guide, picks us up. Together with two other German tourists, we drive to Buccoo, a dreamy village north of Crown Point. Every Sunday the Sunday School, a big disco event, takes place here. Locals and tourists meet to celebrate, eat & drink together until dawn. The latter makes itself strongly noticeable on Mondays, when the tour guides need a somewhat longer warm-up phase.
Once in Buccoo, we start with rum punch - delicious! We stroll past many food stalls, a very appetizing aroma fills the air. Of course there is also plenty of trinkets and loads of tourists. We look forward to a typical Caribbean steel band. With an amazing atmosphere and the Caribbean version of Hotel California, they get us fired up, and the alcohol heats up the mood even more.
All Night Long
In between, we also check out the nightclub in the village from the inside, which you can actually skip since almost everyone hangs out outdoors.
Around 1:00 AM we leave the scene — after all, we have another exhausting beach day ahead of us tomorrow.
Our verdict: The Sunday School is something you simply have to experience.
