The North of Barbados
April 21
Today we explore the northern part of Barbados. We set off at 8:30 from Oistins.
Cherry Tree Hill & Morgan Lewis Windmill
Next, we enjoy the magnificent view from Cherry Tree Hill over the Atlantic coast of Barbados.
A few kilometers further, we reach the Morgan Lewis Windmill. It is the last functioning windmill on Barbados and has been meticulously restored. There is a small exhibition to visit.
At the Grenade Hall Signal Station we make another stop and enjoy a stunning view of the Atlantic coast of Barbados. A few hundred meters further, we visit Farley Hill National Park with its pleasant picnic area and gorgeous coastal views. Here you can also see the ruins of the manor house, which burned down to its walls in the 1960s. Admission US$ 1.75
Animal Flower Cave
The Animal Flower Cave is located at the northern tip of Barbados and is a cave carved into a steep, towering cliff. You can descend a staircase and gaze out from the cliff face at the powerful surf that regularly sends waves crashing into the cave. Unfortunately, we don't spot any of the sea anemones the cave is named after during our visit. However, a pod of humpback whales passes by several times just off the coast.
